BEST TIME TO VISIT GIR NATIONAL PARK

SUMMER IN GIR NATIONAL PARK (MARCH TO MAY): Summer season in Sasan Gir is hot and humid. The temperature during this season ranges between 28 degree Celsius to 42 degree Celsius. The summer winds are scorch here. However, summer is not preferred as best time to explore the wilderness of Gir forests.

Sometimes, there are people who wish to travel during summer season. For such travellers, it is advised to rise early in the mooring and take earliest safari ride and bind up all activities by 11 AM. In the evening it is quite comfortable and you can spend good time outdoors as the sunsets only by 7 PM. At night, cool breezes gives you soothing experience at Gir.

MONSOON IN GIR NATIONAL PARK (JUNE TO OCTOBER): After hot and humid summer season the wild species of Gir gets much-needed relief during the monsoon months. During monsoon season it is impossible to conduct jeep safari. Therefore, due to rains Gir National Park is kept closed from June to October; hence these months cannot be the best time to visit Gir forests. Gir receives heavy rainfall and park’s flora grows lush green and thriving. Literally, monsoon season prepares the park for upcoming tourism season.

WINTER IN GIR NATIONAL PARK (NOVEMBER TO FEBRUARY): Ideally, winter is the most preferred season to visit Gir National Park. Gir experiences very pleasant weather from November to February. The temperature ranges from 10 degree Celsius to 22 degree Celsius. The Gir weather, mixed with the lush greenery, makes this the perfect time to visit Gir and indulge in many joyful activities.

  • When you are going for Safari. Make sure you have obtained a valid entry permit from the Gujarat Forest Department's official website (https://girlion.gujarat.gov.in/Index.aspx).

GIR FOREST SAFARI BOOKING PROCEDURE
  • Whole procedure of jeep ride for National Park are regulated and managed by Forest Department of India. Clients are advised to apply for Gir online booking in advance to avoid last minute hustle bustle as complete safari permits of National Park are available online. Interested candidates are requested to have a look at underneath points significant for advance online booking.
  • Complete and precise detail of full Name, Age and Gender of the each tourist in confirmation with identity cards of individuals.
  • Original identity card number and type of card is mandatory to be filled. Original identity implies to either of the following identity proof- Passport or Voter Card or Driving licence or Aadhaar Card only.
  • It is important to be noted that incorrect and incomplete details of individuals and Identity proof will be considered invalid and no booking will be granted in such case resulting in no voyage in the territory of Gir National Park.
  • In case of folks with foreign nationality, details of their foreign tourist passport will be needed and accepted.
  • Tourists are requested to carry same identity proof which is used during online booking procedure.
  • Only Six persons have the permit to visit Jungle with one E-permit.
  • Sasan Gir Safari Booking request within three months of date of trip proposed can be entertained and booked.

PERMIT TIPS FOR GIR LION SAFARI
  • To witness the mind blowing and rare wildlife of Gir Forest, 3 safari tours at distinct slash of the day are permitted for tourist. The earliest in morning is at 6:30 am, 9:00 am and late in the evening before dusk at 3:30pm. It is definitely as per availability of permit and then at tourist choice but early morning tour is most advisable in summers, spring and other seasons with moderate temperature. DAY 2GIR FOREST NATIONAL PARK
